The Municipality of Oton possesses strong climate change advocacy and programs, and it invites investment in the establishment of an ecological waste processing facility to push forward its vision to contribute to carbon reduction through zero waste management and the use of renewable energy.
The municipality envisions the facility to showcase environmental sustainability that helps address the waste problem, exhibit the wise use of rainwater through harvesting, and utilize renewable energy. The local government has designed a complex with a designated 800-square-meter solar-roofed waste processing center, integrated with a solar-covered 1-hectare rainwater harvesting lagoon, and enhanced by a 5-unit, 2-kilowatt-capacity vertical wind turbine to support its energy requirements.
The processing facility will also complement the eco-tourism development of the complex with a nature trail and bird-watching areas within the perimeter, support environmental education advocacy, create jobs, and have the potential to generate resources for the local government.
