The metropolitan area of Metro Iloilo–Guimaras encompasses various sectors driving its economy, such as port management, telecommunications, utilities, agriculture, banking, retail, real estate, tourism, and business process outsourcing (BPO). This plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade, attracting investments, and fostering economic advancement.

Apart from Iloilo City, Pavia, Oton, and Santa Barbara also serve as crucial commercial centers in the metropolitan area. These locations host diverse economic activities within mixed-use development townships, complementing the city’s offerings.

Pavia, renowned as the agro-industrial core of the region, boasts a robust manufacturing sector with 39 establishments producing an array of goods for domestic and international markets. Noteworthy products include farm tools, rice, animal feeds, noodles, beverages, poultry, cooking oil, furniture, concrete items, polyurethane foam, and industrial and medical gases. Esteemed manufacturing entities like Coca-Cola Bottlers, Phils., Vitarich Corporation, Pryce Gases, Inc., Mandaue Foam Industries, Panay Tropical Grains Milling Corp., and Jaspe Light Steel Indus significantly contribute to Pavia’s economic prominence.

The Guimaras, a province within the metropolitan area, thrives on agriculture, particularly in mangoes, rice, coconuts, livestock, poultry, and fishing. The province also engages in diverse industries like tourism, fruit and coconut processing, fish farming, handicrafts, mining, quarrying, and lime production.

As the primary economic and financial center of Western Visayas, Metro Iloilo–Guimaras has attracted numerous banking institutions. The area boasts a growing number of banks, ranking third in the Philippines for bank savings deposits and accounts. This robust banking presence further bolsters the region’s economic growth and financial activities.
