Pasay City, Manila – Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas expressed optimism over the promising outcomes of Metro Iloilo artisans’ participation in the ongoing Manila FAME exhibit, which runs from October 16 to 18.
The city mayor, who visited the Metro Iloilo booth on the second day of the exhibit, said the event has opened new doors for local creatives and enterprises.
Brought by the Iloilo City Government and the Metro Iloilo–Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC), which is chaired by Mayor Trenas, the participating homegrown brands included Lampirong Collection, Modern Ilongga, Fiesta Philippines, Iloilo Capiz Shell Flowers and Antiques, Corral’s Shell Arts and Crafts, Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc., and Cuaycong Native Products.
For most of them, this was their first exposure at a national trade fair with global market reach.
“We really want to promote our artisans from Iloilo City and MIGEDC. By joining events like Manila FAME, we’re giving them more exposure—and with that comes more clients and business opportunities,” Mayor Trenas said.
She shared that some of the participating artisans have already received new orders, including for export.
“We’re very happy because once these orders come in, production happens in Iloilo. This strengthens our local industries and creates more jobs for Ilonggos,” she added.
The mayor emphasized that this development supports the city’s ‘Rise-to-Action’ agenda, particularly under its Rising Economy pillar, which aims to promote inclusive growth and livelihood opportunities through creative entrepreneurship. (Iloilo City PIO)
